My main points of reference for this project were The Blob (1988), The Thing (1986), Junji Ito, the Hellsing manga, the academic romance anime genre, otome games (Japanese dating video games), Don't Starve Together, medical diagrams, photos of real medical cadavers, and more. The reference document for this project included at least 100 carefully studied photos, including selections from the 1,200 screenshots I took and organized while scrubbing frame-by-frame through The Blob. I have NO CHILL.

Hmmmm good question!

Leo is the least likely to laugh all that often, but Mikey had found that interrupting him while doing schoolwork with an impromptu dance number would always at least cause a snicker to escape the oldest. :) There are other rare instances when Leo is fighting to keep a straight face when he's a medic- depending on the level of ridiculousness of the cause of the injury. Again, this would normally involve Mikey- and thanks to the youngest's need to make others smile, his Medbay visits would usually end with the two brothers laughing hysterically.

Mikey will laugh at anything and everything- from slapstick comedy to puns. It is no feat to make him smile or laugh, and his grin and contagious laugh usually spread to all others in the room. :)

Don is like Leo in the fact that he doesn't laugh all that often. He's normally cooped up in his office working, so there aren't all that many opportunities for him to join in on the jokes of his family. However, slapstick at the expense of his brothers will always at least make him crack a smile. ESPECIALLY if it involves his twin.

Raph is normally found laughing, (like his twin), at the expense of his brothers: When someone trips and falls on their face during practice, or when Leo stubs his toe for the fourth time that day, or even something as simple as watching his twin work. Like this. XD

Lotus (later) will find that her humor is far more dark-centered. That's all I'll say for now to resist spoilers. ;)

After learning about the video game "CONTROL" and watching Julia LePetit-Drawfee play it, I have amended my views on brutalist architecture.

I used to think that brutalist architecture was a completely miserable and hideous style of architecture to expect human beings to exist in or around, with absolutely no acceptable applications.

But NOW I think that brutalist architecture is a completely miserable and hideous style of architecture to expect human beings to exist in or around, which is actually quite suitable for a visually striking video game about a living building that fucking hates you and is actively trying to kill you and everyone in it. ✅ ✅ ✅

I'm being silly but tbh anyone who disagrees with me can go ahead and spend 10 years commuting in the dingy gray concrete brutalist dimness of the DC metro system and then fucking get back to me.

long answer: likely the same way i didn't watch Austin Powers or Bill & Ted until my thirties, and still have not seen Dumb & Dumber or Spaceballs: i mostly wasn't allowed to watch TV as a kid if it wasn't nature specials, and by the time i got into my teens and could choose to watch television, i had inherited my parents' aversion to...idk, this specific flavor of live-action USAmerican comedy? there is a kind of comedy that usually (not always) features a pair of relentlessly stupid dingbats as protagonists. different styles of humor appeal to different people; that particular style just tends to not be my thing.

but i have now watched at least one Austin Powers movie with filthy, and i think i watched Bill & Ted with my spouse? or maybe we only watched Bill & Ted Face the Music? i don't recall. regardless, i was entertained! actually sort of shocked at how much i enjoyed Austin Powers. (blah blah product of its time blah blah aged poorly, but i went in expecting to be way more offended than i actually was.) Bill & Ted were also genuinely amusing, for the most part.

(austin powers only had one main protagonist - i just mention those movies here because the humor smells the same, if that makes sense. and bill & ted the characters were compelling. maybe that's the difference?)

so, who knows, maybe i will enjoy Wayne's World! i do like "interesting trivia delivered by unlikely source" as a bit; the gifset i reblogged seemed fun. reading a plot synopsis, i am not super hopeful, but-- we'll have to see! perhaps i will be pleasantly surprised.

A fun thing me and my sister do is sing parts of the Epic songs but in the funniest character voices we can manage to imitate. Examples being Christoper Walkin, Kermit the frog, Mickey Mouse, Jennifer Coolidge, Danny Devito, etc. Our personal favourite bit to do is Poseidon’s get in the water line but in the most babiest voice ever, like a baby trying to sound menacing but you’re too busy laughing at him xD

Another thing that absolutely KILLED me is when she did Mickey Mouse’s voice singing Hold them down and if you know the words to that song then you can imagine the imagery that carries xDDD
